South East Melbourne is home to 485 general practices made up of 2,786 GPs, 317 practice managers and 894 nurses. Their professions are dedicated to keeping our community well, which requires their knowledge to be expansive and their learning continuous. Having effective practice processes and keeping across current and potential health and practice issues are key to success.

Our focus at SEMPHN is providing needs-based and targeted education opportunities for local health care providers to support their capacity to  deliver quality care. Every second month, we host free Practice Network Meetings for practice managers and practice nurses who relish the opportunity to learn from key speakers and network with their peers. The topics  are informed by current challenges identified by managers and nurses that practices may be facing, topical health issues and important protocol updates. As part of our yearly planning and schedule, we also collaborate with leading health providers or organisations to provide specialised and accredited training opportunities for health professionals.

A look inside our 2022 end of year event

In November 2022, eighty-five general practice staff (including GPs, practice managers, practice nurses and reception staff) attended our end of year education and wellbeing event. Held at Atura Hotel in Eumemmering, it was the first face-to-face gathering possible since COVID restrictions, and had a strong focus on self-care and burnout prevention. The event also provided an opportunity for people to network and SEMPHN to say thank you for another big and challenging year.
